RIP Hop Farm, dang it.

Yes, it’s true…Hop farm cancelled, so we can’t make the trip in July.  Thanks to everyone who suggested we jump onto Glastonbury.  I wissh it were that easy…you should all of you let Glastonbury know that you’d like to see us there, and maybe someday we’ll get the call.  See all you guys next Feb/March if all goes according to plan!

Kudos to You, Northeast!

Thought you guys would want to know.  We got home safe, took some naps, are going to chill out in advance of our upcoming West Coast run next month, and quick trip to England and Holland in July.  You’re all welcome to come to these, but you already did a FANTASTIC JOB at the shows last week, so I won’t make you get on planes.  Such singing!  Such dancing (I’m talking about you, but of course we were good too)!  Such cell phone waving!  Touring is hard, and gets harder the more years/kids/soccer schedules come into play, so we simply wouldn’t be doing it anymore if not for how amazing and inspirational you are on a nightly basis. I would hug every one of you if it weren’t impossible/liable to give me the flu.  Thanks for coming, Thanks for buying a shirt or whatnot, thanks for pogoing, thanks for coming on Mondays and Tuesdays……you KICK ASS.

A NOTE ON THE VENUES:

Union Transfer is a gorgeous spanking new joint, and you Philly-ites are lucky to have them.  Good luck Bowery guys! You are killing it!

Paradise, you are a second home, especially considering Chris’s history as a temp Boston guy.  Getting Dana onstage for a Morphine tune brought chills.

Mohegan Sun, as weird as casinos are for rock bands, you provide a really interesting and good weird. Don’t let me gamble next time.

Stone Pony in NJ was a BUCKET LIST play for us, getting to stand in the very spot where Jon Bon Jovi did every week back when his hair was truly hilarious.

Irving Plaza, always great.  The first time I went there I broke several small bones in my hand playing tambourine while “sitting in” with Kula Shaker in the ’90s.  Really that’s the only thing that’s ever happened to me there that wasn’t great.

9:30…..those of us who remember battling the rats at the old location appreciate the world-class venue you are now.  and you make CUPCAKES!

OK, see everyone soon in a year or two, and sign up for the friggen email list!

FINE, it’s HOP FARM, you guys. (UK)

YES! I apologise, I’ve known for weeks, but was sworn to secrecy.  I would have been whacked, you guys.  Cut me some slack.

ANYHOO….the mystery UK gig this Summer for us is the fabulous HOP FARM, in Kent, wherever that is (just kidding I know it’s near a forest, or maybe a mountain?).  We’re playing on Friday, July 5th.  Looks pretty good, MBV are among my all time faves.

Brisbane: Sold out. Also, some upgrade options!

…..and the rest, not sold out as of this moment. BUT they are going fast and some will sell out in the next couple days, so I’d get off my butt if I was a young, fashionable Australian who was considering buying a ticket to our Australia ’13 1st Record WOW! tour*

I’m just saying, get off the fence.

OK, here’s some other news…..

They’ve come up with some VIP packages, which make you a VIP!  People with tix already can  ”upgrade” at the links below.   Honestly, I never used to pay attention to this stuff, but now that we are trying it ourselves, I am noticing (via “paying attention”) that these packages are actually pretty cool.  You get the ticket, you get the meet and greet (we are pretty good at these.  We talk  and sign stuff and act normal and stuff .  ROCKET SCIENCE), you get a bitchen poster that probably costs thirty bucks if you bought it at the merch table which you can’t, and here’s the best part…you get a silly laminate that has nothing whatsoever to do with the tour but it has our name on it, so why not try and flash it at the backstage security and get on back here! I’m not saying it’s a slam dunk (it isn’t), but stranger things have happened, and if you get that far we’ll probably be all “hey that’s the guy/gal/kid from the meet and greet, we love them, stop tazing them!”

anyway, this will get its own post tomorrow….but the links are here: Remember, current ticket holders can “upgrade” with one click.  or clack.

Melbourne and Sydney

Coolangatta

Brisbane (remember, this is sold out, but you can pull this move if you have a ticket!)

Adelaide

Perth

SO THERE YA GO!  BUY EM, AND WE WILL HAVE A SODA/BEER TOGETHER!

*I am not young, not fashionable, not Australian, and I literally just made up Australia ’13 1st Record WOW! the other day.

yep, more in HOLLAND!

so, I’m pretty beat, what with the whole PUSAFEST thing last weekend…..seems like I should some pics or something? NAH.  NO I WILL!

anyway, all of you European folks may want to take a look at these DUTCH DATES, in JULY!

So its:

July 6:  Utrecht at Tivoli, a place where we have had some shows that I’m pretty sure were amazing, but are a little hazy in my memory, so someone remind me!

then:

JUly 7:  Heerlen, at the grandly named Parkstad Limburg Theaters. We’ve never been to Heerlen, so there are definitely no local police OUT FOR REVENGE, which is a plus for a band of CRAZY BAD-ASSES like us!

tix links over at GIGS page!

I’m afraid they will probably be the only European ones this year, although I do get to announce a BRITISH FESTIVAL of some note soon.  So……I’m going to bed, but THESE GO ONSALE 9AM ON THE 20TH WHICH IS IN LIKE AN HOUR!

A word about our “Fancy” vip tickets….

So yeah….we are trying this for the first time on these US dates in April and May….we like to stay pretty cutting edge on this kind of thing, so here we are, a mere 3-4 years after bands have been doing this….doing this.

These tix are $75, and include the ticket (duh) plus a bunch of other stuff listed on the buy page, plus you come to soundcheck, we’ll tattoo your lip if you want, etc…it’s pretty cool…..

they are NOT AVAILABLE in DC….the 9:30 has some “rules” about this….ask them…..

There should be links at the buy pages of the venues, but to make it even easier, I’ve got them all RIGHT HERE IN ONE PLACE

treat yourselves, YOU ARE WORTH IT!

Roughly a dozen US Dates(!)

YES, here is the plan for 2013.  I want to stress that if these shows go as EXCELLENTLY  as we expect (and frankly, DEMAND) them to we will likely try to do everywhere else in the US over the next year or so.  That is a threat.

SOOO…..here they are!  MOst of them go ONSALE ON SATURDAY, but a few go ONSALE FRIDAY!

Wed/Apr-10 Philadelphia, PA Union Transfer
Thu/Apr-11 Boston, MA Paradise
Fri/Apr-12 Uncasville, CT Mohegan Sun – Wolf’s Den
Sat/Apr-13 Asbury Park, NJ The Stone Pony
Mon/Apr-15 New York, NY Irving Plaza
Tue/Apr-16 Washington D.C. 9:30 Club
Tue/May-21 San Diego, CA Belly Up
Wed/May-22 Costa Mesa, CA The Observatory
Thu/May-23 Los Angeles, CA House of Blues
Fri/May-24 San Francisco, CA The Independent
Sat/May-25 San Francisco, CA The Independent

these will all be the “debut album” style show we started doing in Europe last year.  They are fun.  People like them.  You have spoken, PEOPLE.  Of course there will always be a large stack of tunes from all the rest.  Actually, we’ve been practicing for our PUSAFEST shows next week, and have had a really good time pulling out odds ands ends (Twitter requests GOOD).  So expect some ODDS AND FRIGGEN ENDS!

Here’s a new thing….we are going to be selling VIP tickets at these shows.  It seems pretty cool.  75 bucks, and you get your ticket (duh) and a (nice) signed (or not) silk-screened poster, and a signed copy of the 10-year anniversary edition of the Debut album (the one with the dvd and bonus tracks!), and some sort of laminate, and you can come to friggen sound check.  Understand: not the dumb part of soundcheck where our sound guy Martin makes me test the kick drum mic for 10 minutes while EQ-ing out harmonics that only he can hear, and I’m saying to myself  ”I wonder if I could hit Martin with this stick from this far away, and hopefully either kill or grievously injure him?” …..Noooo I mean the KICK ASS part of soundcheck where we spend the last 5-10 miutes playing actual songs, some of them even songs we know.

So yes, you get a bunch of stuff for the $75.  We have no experience with this, but it’s a thing people are doing now, so let’s see how it goes.  My vague understanding is that the VIP tickets will be available right there at the same link as the regular tickets.  If that’s not right, I’ll get you some BETTER INFORMATION, before it’s too late!

OK
